A new football season is beginning—and EA SPORTS FC 27 wants to be more than another annual squad update.
Early access began on September 18, 2026, while the worldwide Standard Edition launch is scheduled for Friday, September 25. EA Play members can also access a 10-hour trial before deciding whether to purchase the complete game.
The biggest attraction is The Grounds, a new social football world that transforms Clubs into a place where players can meet, compete, customize their Pros, and enjoy several types of football without constantly returning to menus.

The Grounds Changes Everything for Clubs
The Grounds is the new home of Clubs in FC 27. Rather than immediately entering a traditional lobby, players arrive in a shared football environment that can bring together as many as 100 people.
The world begins at a central social area called The Terrace, which connects the Club Headquarters and three different districts:
- Montclair: Inspired by French urban football and cage pitches
- Zeiza: Based on Argentina’s neighborhood “potrero” football culture
- Parkside: Influenced by working-class British football communities
Players can explore these areas, meet friends, participate in small-sided activities, visit stores, and enter Clubs competitions.
According to EA’s official The Grounds and Clubs deep dive, The Grounds is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
That platform restriction is important. Players on older consoles should confirm which features are available before purchasing the game.
Traditional 11v11 Clubs Are Still Here
The social world may be new, but EA has not abandoned the part that dedicated Pro Clubs teams love most.
League matches, Playoffs, Rush, and full 11v11 Clubs football return. Clubs can enter the stadium together, compete for divisions, build their reputation, and work toward shared objectives.

FC 27 also introduces Club Tournaments with specific entry requirements, House Rules, objectives, and rewards. The first tournament during the launch period is a Classic Stadium 11v11 event.
New Club Objectives encourage teammates to contribute even when everyone cannot play simultaneously. One challenge may track league victories, while another counts wins accumulated across activities such as one-versus-one games.
That should make running a Club feel more like building a complete team and less like waiting for all 11 people to appear online at exactly the same time.
More Freedom When Building Your Pro
Archetypes continue to control how a virtual Pro develops, but FC 27 makes the system more flexible.
All Archetypes are unlocked from the beginning. Players can experiment with different positions and builds without first grinding to access them.
Resetting a build no longer costs Grounds Coins, and individual attributes can be adjusted without completely rebuilding the character. Changes can be made from The Grounds, Club Headquarters, or the Clubs and Rush lobby.

FC 27 also adds Masteries, which reward players for developing multiple Archetypes. Reaching milestones with one playing style can unlock permanent attribute improvements that benefit other builds.
For example, developing a finishing-focused Archetype may eventually improve finishing-related attributes across your virtual footballer. The system gives players a reason to experiment instead of using the same striker build for the entire year.
What Are Amps?
Amps are temporary enhancements that change how your Pro performs for a limited number of matches.
A Standard Amp might improve long shots, while Signature Amps are inspired by famous footballers and combine attributes, PlayStyles, and special perks. Players can earn Amps through objectives, tournaments, seasonal progression, and other activities.
EA says Amps will not provide PlayStyle+ at launch, helping prevent the temporary boosts from immediately becoming too powerful. The system should be useful for experimenting, but competitive balance will depend on how future Amps are distributed.
Small-Sided Games Add Something Different
The Grounds includes activities that do not feel like ordinary Clubs matches.
Players can participate in casual park games, shooting challenges, possession-based three-versus-three contests, and a football-basketball activity where teams score by sending the ball through elevated hoops.
These games may be especially useful while waiting for Club teammates to arrive. They also award Archetype experience and Grounds Coins, so time spent outside the stadium can still improve your Pro.
EA says seasonal Live Events will change parts of The Grounds throughout the year. The launch update includes European Nights, inspired by UEFA Champions League evenings, and a Halloween-themed Screaming Grounds event. EA’s official FC 27 launch update
Ultimate Team Returns With a New Season
Football Ultimate Team returns with squad building, chemistry, online competition, objectives, special cards, and seasonal rewards.
The opening season features Ones to Watch, with eligible player items able to receive upgrades based on real football performances and achievements. EA has also adjusted the Team of the Week upgrade structure for the beginning of the game. FC 27 Ultimate Team Season 1

Avoid spending coins simply because the market is exciting during launch week. Build a playable team, complete beginner objectives, and learn which formations fit your style before buying expensive cards.
FC 27’s Ultimate Team includes optional purchases, so families should review console spending controls before younger players begin opening packs.
Career Mode Is Still for the Solo Football Manager
Players who prefer a slower experience can return to Career Mode, manage a club, develop young talent, negotiate transfers, and build a team across several seasons.

The complete game includes more than 21,000 players, over 800 clubs and national teams, more than 140 stadiums, and over 35 leagues, according to EA’s official FC 27 page.
That makes Career Mode the best destination for players who want real competitions and long-term team building without the constant pressure of online rewards.
Should You Buy FC 27?
FC 27 looks most exciting for Clubs players. The Grounds gives friends more activities, more social interaction, easier Pro experimentation, and additional ways to develop a Club.
Ultimate Team players receive the familiar annual restart, while Career Mode remains available for anyone who prefers managing a team at their own pace.
If you are uncertain, use the EA Play trial before purchasing. Test the gameplay, confirm that your friends are using a compatible platform, and make sure your favorite mode feels different enough from FC 26.
The real test will come after launch: whether The Grounds remains active, receives meaningful updates, and makes Clubs more enjoyable throughout the entire season.
